ABOUT US

Who We are:

Commit to Equity is a statewide campaign of frontline workers, teachers, seniors, environmentalists, and advocates for social and racial justice. As Californians are struggling under the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, recession, racism and inequality, we are demanding legislators commit to invest in our communities rather than continuing to give billionaires and corporations a free pass. Our voices and activism all summer long will ensure that our state leaders don’t make these tough times even worse by cutting the programs we depend on – our education, health care, and child care – to solve another budget crisis.

WHAT WE ARE DOING:

We will be organizing all summer across California to send a message to our leaders. STOP BUDGET CUTS that hurt our schools, health care, and child care when we need them the most. TAX THE PRIVILEGED for budget balancing revenue. INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITIES OF COLOR AND VULNERABLE PEOPLE to build a more just, equal, and inclusive society.

WHY ARE WE TAKING ACTION

PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING!  We are sheltering in place during COVID-19.  Millions of us have lost our jobs. THE BURDEN OF THIS PANDEMIC ON BLACK AND BROWN FRONTLINE WORKERS HAS BEEN DISPROPORTIONATELY STRONG. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Just as people have risen up in the streets against racism and injustice, we must demand our state leaders stop asking us to sacrifice through cutting programs we need.  They must ask for sacrifice from privileged billionaires and corporations and tax them!
